We Found A Really Cool and Yummy Restaurant in Downtown Cebu
We discovered a really cool and delicious restaurant whilst doing some downtown meetings (i.e. in colon area). We happened to have a period in between two meetings where we had some free time and incidentally, it coincided with lunchtime! We searched online and found this restaurant, Kapihan ni Lumaya at the Palm Grass Hotel. It wasn't even our first choice as the top one that came out in the search list was so hard to find! I'm glad though we came to this one because it is one pretty cool restaurant. The ambiance is really awesome : the waiter wears a traditional costume, the tables had red KKK flags on them and the local dishes were named after Cebuano native warriors. Some sample names of these dishes : "Tagimtim ni Abellana (charbroiled fresh oyster with pickled papaya); Gisadong Nukos ni Lapu-Lapu (stir fried squid), Linarang ni Leon Kilat (mild spicy parrot fish stew) The food had such a unique twist to native Cebuano dishes and was so good!
We had a starter of fresh Lumpia done their way and chose the Kawali style dish ( Litson de Carajay ni Juliana) and squid as our main dishes. The pork belly was crispy and flavorful and the squid was cooked just right and had the most amazing tomato based tasting sauce! There were a lot of other things that we wanted to try on the menu but we could only stuff our faces too much! We also tried their dessert and coffee and were delighted to discover that these were served in old looking clay pot ceramics! Absolutely loved it. We do hope you check this place out just in case you make it to this part of town! It's a great experience and the food was really good and unique too!
