Ladies and Gentleman, Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience...
- Baz Luhrman, Sunscreen
One of the advice from my mother (and Baz Luhrman) that I always kept to heart and never ignored was to wear sunscreen everyday. And I'm glad I did. Because my mother is in her 60s and she looks about 20 or more years younger and has great skin. It's the best anti-aging product and protects you from skin cancer as well.
Summer is coming, and it's time to stock up on the sun block. Here we compiled 7 of our favorite sunscreens that we personally used and tested out walking under the heat of the sun and at the beach.
As the song Sunscreen ends: Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it... But trust me on the sunscreen.
This brand is dedicated to sun care (created by their founder after a friend was diagnosed with melanoma, a type of skin cancer) so they have perfected their sun creams and added ingredients to help in skin care as well. We like the Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen for days on the beach and the Everyday Sunscreen for, well, everyday use!
*Also found in Watson's and leading department stores
This local product is the cheapest among our selections but holds its own well because of its effective sun protection and anti-aging benefits. It has a mild scent and lightweight application as well, a good bottle to have in handy in your bag when you unexpectedly need to be exposed to the sun.
*Also found in Dara Beauty Market and Missha Kiosk in SM City Cebu
The bottle looks similar to Shiseido's Sun Milk but at a third of the price, provides the same protection and benefits and has a lighter application. We personally love the scent more too. The small bottle makes it a good arsenal to keep in your handbag, just in case the beach unexpectedly calls.
