It seems like it's always traffic in Escario. Luckily, there's a lot of good restos and cafes along the way that you can escape to when you're stuck and hungry. Here are 7 of our favorites!

Pizzeria Michaelangelo

Although the more well-known branch is the one in Ma. Luisa, we’re so happy to have this branch in the area. Favorites are the Robertino pizza (Cooked ham, bacon, egg, parmesan, arugula, oh la la), the traditional carbonara and boscaiola pasta.

Birdseed Breakfast Club + Cafe

This is one of our favorite brunch spots – we love the lighting and the cozy ambiance. The Salmon Silog (house-cured salmon sashimi with sesame brown rice, green mango, nori, spicy Japanese mayo and 63 degree sous vide egg, yum!) is our staple paired with their perfect cold brew. We go for the Burger Mac & Cheese for lunch or dinner. Their buttermilk pancakes and French toast are worth waking up early for too.

Rico’s Lechon

Although we love eating lechon anywhere, we really enjoyed dining in Rico’s classy interiors. Order the Spicy Lechon and white rice and you’re good to go. We also love their Monggos soup, Camaron Rebosado and Bicol Express with lechon bits.

Senor Kimchi

Korean and Mexican are 2 of our favorite cuisines so it’s no surprise we love this fusion resto. Korean Fried Chicken Wings are always a win. We also like to start our meal with their Pepper Bombs. Other must orders are the Spicy Pork Belly Kimchi Bowl and any of their Kimchi Fried Rice, the Bulgogi Beef is our favorite. They also serve cocktails, beer and alcoholic drinks, which you can enjoy with their delicious options of chips, nachos or fries.

Cocina de la Casa

Although technically not on Escario, this cozy restaurant tucked in one of the side streets is one of our new favorites in the area. Start your meal with the Vietnamese-inspired oriental spring roll before digging in their hearty mains – the Pan Seared Emperor Sea Bream, Pork Hock or Bacalao are some of their best sellers.

Kuya J’s Restaurant

Escape the traffic at night and grab comfort Filipino food at Kuya J’s for dinner to wait it out. Start your meal with Sinuglaw or the Crusted Prawns with Coco Wasabi Cheese. We love the Bulalo soup, Kuya J Crispy Pata (must order!), and Crispy Catfish paired with their fruit shakes.

Micky’s Japanese Cakes

At the end of Escario, we have one of our favorite cafes. Micky’s serves the most delectable cheesecakes – the mango is a best seller but the strawberry is our favorite. The Rare Chocolate cake is also a must try – bittersweet chocolate in the most delectable sponge cake. Pair it off with a pot of their hot tea – order the Rosehip with a side of milk or their Micky’s special blend fresh brewed coffee. The service here is excellent too!
